We're waiting to upgrade to 2024 as long as we can't use the Asset Browser and until today it didn't bother us that much. :) But it seems that at least another problem we have with 2023 would be fixed in 2024 and this really would improve our workflow. For now, if we use Corona Bitmaps with the Asset Browser, a problem occurs where the Corona Bitmap is completely blank after re-importing the Asset out of the Asset Browser. The node really loses every 'content' (text, information, ...) and is useless. After re-importing the Texture with a new Corona Bitmap node everything works fine again. (or after switching back to a C4D Bitmap node) At least it seems this is working in 2024 and that would be really nice to have. :)

Are there any updates if that problem could be fixed in the near future? Only with Corona 12 or is there maybe a chance for another Hotfix?

Hi Aram

If I'm not mistaken, isn't that script a default part of the Max install these days?

Maybe if you ask the developers, they will add conversion)

Has anyone experienced Ctrl+Z or Undo in general consistenly crashing their scenes?  I'm in Max 2024 and Corona 11 - pretty sure it's a Max issue though.

But I'll start a new scene and everything works fine for a while.  Then (randomly) Ctrl+Z will crash Max, and from this point, any instance of Ctrl+Z in that scene results in a crash.  The rest of the scene works fine but once I've had that initial crash - Ctrl+Z becomes a no go zone.  It's driving me insane.

Hi,

This seems to be the known behavior of the malware found in the scene.
Press H and check if there are any objects (they are usually empty) with strange names (the ones I am aware of were Chinese).
If you found any, deleting them will not work - you will need you download and install [urlhttps://apps.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/en/Detail/Index?id=7342616782204846316&appLang=en&os=Win64]Scene Security tools[/url], then reopen the scene.
It will automatically detect the malware and delete it. Afterwards, you can locate and delete the objects with strange names.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Kelvin temperatures are not realistic?

Did you try photographing night-time interior at fixed 6500K WB with Lightbulbs in 1800-3000K range? (Although cameras and afterwards raw interpreters will afterwards disagree on how to write that temperature, Adobe being biggest offender).
I think lot of people underappreciate how warm such light is because of how effective our eyesight/brain is at balancing colors and interior daylight is mostly colder through out day.

With that said, architectural photographers have been swapping to 5000K white-bulbs during photoshoots for many years :- ). It works better for photography and rendering is the same.

I am always shocked by the opposite, how "blue-ish" 5000K light-bulb feels, even though it's still on warm-scale. But 5000K bulbs are the ones called daylight or pure-white to keep in mind.
Perceptiveness plays a very big role.

The big discussion with devs many years ago had more to do with tint, the 6500K in Corona didn't feel like absolute white in some tests and there some odd explanation of 6502K or something happened if I remember correctly. I didn't understand the explanation.

But it's not like white-balance works great in photography either, the color matrix translation that raw interpreters like ACR do (i.e converting 6500 into 5600 + Random Tint) is still confusing to me many years after I started photography.

Tonemapping plays great role. ACES OT or similar is necessary for taming saturation of highlights and perceiving colors correctly. Without it, you're looking at nonsense that can't be compared to what you're seeing with your own eyes or camera.

I agree.

I'm sure I've seen this topic discussed somewhere, and don't remember the answer, but I reckon the dev's will justify it with some complex reasoning.

But yes, it's definitely wayyyy too warm.

[Max] I need help! / Max scripting to automate rendering
« Last post by digitalomega on Today at 01:10:04 »
Hello All!

I am making a script to render and save an image automatically, but I have a couple problems:
When using this  CoronaRenderer.CoronaFp.dumpVfb "D:/yourfilename.cxr" or using CoronaRenderer.CoronaFp.saveAllElements"D:/yourfilename.cxr"
I can only save as .cxr, if I try to save as .jpg I only get a 64px black bitmap.
Is there a workaround for this?

Also, when I am using the render() function inside maxscript this is resetting all the render settings of corona and the vfb, is this normal behaviour? or how can it be avoided.

Thank you in advance and happy rendering!

[Max] I need help! / Kelvin temperatures are not realistic?

Hey guys how are you?
While I'm planning the Interior lighting in my project - I find out that the kelvin temperatures are not realistic...
3000K looks wayyyy too orange. I disabeled the tone mapping, but it still not looks like a 3000k lighting...
For getting the realistic effect of 3000k I use 4300-5000 in corona light.
What am I missing here?

Thanks !

Hi,

The bug happens on my side with 2024.3.2, but not with 2023.2.2. Corona 11h1 in both cases. All the material values are reset to default.

So does the issue come from Corona or Cinema ?

Also the generated Asset Browser preview is empty (black square) if the saved asset has Corona dependencies and Corona the active render engine (both conditions have to be met).
