Corona and Gamma 2.2??

(1/1)

melviso:
I have noticed something recently that it seems my renders look different when I save them out of Corona than how they look in the corona window. When I open it in PS, it seems washed out sort off. I never really noticed this until I started using Viewport Canvas to paint my textures, the saved out textures always looked washed out till i turned the gamma 2.2 off. Does this mean my laptop's screen isn't calibrated correctly?

maru:
Hi, which version of 3ds Max are you using?

Have you configured 3ds Max gamma according to this guide?

I reinstalled 3dsmax again. Seemed to solve the problem.

Frood:
Which PS version do you use? And do you save out EXRs? In older PS versions (pre CC) you had to apply an exposure layer and "revert" gamma (Gamma 0.45) bevore converting to 16/8 bit. Could you attach such an "washed out" image (in it´s original format)?

Now i see... i have the same "problem" starting from max 2014 max handles "automatically" the gamma of files. It seems to me that opening a old scene that has a different gamma can change the default value of Output gamma files to another "number" other than 2,2 necessary for corona to behave correctly.

As from max 2014 and above the output gamma only can be accesed via Maxscript, to me running "FileOutGamma=2,2" in the Listener seems to solve the issue.
