I decided to go with U14.
I just hope it shows it is still goldilocks for new Threadrippers :)

Considering buying 7970x too and wanted to ask whether U14 is performing well at keeping CPU temperature low?

So far I had no problems with the pc at all.
It works non stop as main workstation and for rendering over nights and during weekends.
I just did an animation that was rendering for days without any issues.

That said I do get temperatures around 90c on full load at 4.6 Ghz and 350W power consumption.
Idle temperatures are around 45 c.

It would be nice to have some results with liquid coolers for comparison.
If you end up buying one please let me know the temperatures.

I think modern CPUs are built to run at high (but not too high) temperatures when at full load, especially if you said you were rendering animation for days on. So I wouldn't worry about that. Idle temperature of 45c sounds more than reasonable. And if I do end up buying one I will make sure to report my numbers too.
