I have two decals on the side of this truck, with the exact same settings as the base paint layer. So why is it that the decals show in the reflect pass? Shouldn't the whole side of the truck look the same? I shouldn't be able to see the decals in the reflect.

I'm using the Corona decals for this.

 Thank you for any help.

Hi,

if you don't use a decal and just directly use this texture in your base paint layer, does the reflect pass look any different?

Here is a quick IR render showing the reflect pass. This has a Corona Layered material, with the base paint duplicated twice for layer 1 and 2 for the decals. Its giving me the exact same results.

So, I'm guessing this is some sort of bug possibly?

Hi,

Apologies for the late response. If I understand correctly, you're receiving the same reflection pass whether you're using a decal or directly plugging in the texture to the material's diffuse slot and applying the material to the object.

I'd like to know, if the reflection pass is the same for both methods, what is the expected result you're hoping to achieve? and What is the bug?

Is your material's glossiness/roughness mapped?

@Avi,  No apologies necessary. The decal Has all the same settings as the base paint layer. The only difference is there is a decal in the diffuse. So shouldn't the reflect pass look the same on the entire side of the truck? What I mean is. I shouldnt be able to see the decal cutout in the reflect pass or am I mistaken?

@romullus, There are no maps in my roughness slots.

Thanks guys for taking the time to help.

The Clear Coat, which afaik affects the reflection pass because it is reflection (haven't tested this but I would imagine it appears in the reflection pass), has different absorption values in each material (one is darker than the other). If those are made to match, do you then get an identical result from both materials?

No need for an apology, that's what the forums are here for :) Sometimes we just can't see the wood for the trees and it takes asking others to find out what is going on. Never be afraid to ask questions or share problems - and meantime, glad we have it tracked down!
