Hello,

I've noticed this bug over the last several updates. After working in a 3ds Max animation file over and over, I notice that the Corona Mask Element completely resets itself. I usually turn on the RGB mode and use material gbuffer numbers. I noticed after I render some sequences I'll check on them in Nuke and the masks are gone, so maybe it happens after the jobs are submitted via Deadline?

Thanks

Also, just to update you on how bad this gets. The mask element eventually breaks completely and I'm unable to use the RGB mode. It becomes completely greyed out and I have to close out the file and reopen Max to get it to work again.

Hi, thanks for reporting. We will however need some more info on what exactly is going on here:
- Which exact versions of Max, Corona, and Windows are you using?
- What exact masks are you using? (what specific render element is it?)
- Are there some easy steps to reproduce this issue?

Also, I am not sure if that's possible, but maybe you are keying (animating) the render element settings? So different settings would be used for different animation frames.

Update: yep, CMasking_Mask render element's settings can be animated. So maybe you accidentally animated the radio button switching between "monochromatic mode" and "RGB mode", or maybe it jumped to some abnormal position?

You are correct, thanks for updating me. I was able to delete the keys in the dope sheet window. It's weird how the Material Gbuf IDs are greyed out though when the timeline is not on a key.

Using Corona 5, Max 2020.3, Windows 10.

So, this seems to continue to be an issue. The Material Gbuf ID checkboxes keep getting unchecked in my scene and they are not animated. I have a feeling it's after Deadline submits the job, but I'll keep an eye on it.

Been using deadline for quite sometime never had an issue with CMasking_Mask or CMasking_ID, so to understand this, when you submit the job in deadline your M Gbuff ID get's unticked?

Happens in animation only, happens in different scenes too?

Have to bring up this bug again. Seems to be a recurring issue with animating. I never touch the CMasking_Mask render element once I start animating, but it seems to reset and turn off the RGB so no masks render and puts animated red [] around all the spinners. I have to delete the element and start over since I can't modify it (it's greyed out -- see above old bug report). Been happening for years.

Maybe it's related to Deadline? I can't isolate it, but maybe it's because of submitting jobs.

Hi, is it possible to share a reproduction scene with us?
Please feel free to remove the majority of the scene assets, just keep the render elements and the reported issue. An archive of the repro-scene would work just fine, to upload please use: https://upload.chaos.com/dropzone/qa_corona
