Hi guys, this is the last work I did with my great friend ddjimenez, very creative artist with a giant talent. Idea, modelling and texturing comes from him and I work on shading, lighting and compositing. Was really funny work in this image with this unusual robot.

"Badlands" belongs to a series of illustrations based on a world dominated by machines. In this case, this funny guy in underpants.
This illustration, of course, is full CG, made in 3dsmax and Corona Render, using Marvelous Designer for clothes, Zbrush for the displacement details and Substance Painter + Photoshop for textures/composition.

You can see other images from the same series and other works at
www.ddjimenez.com

Hope you like!

Amazing detail!

I was thinking why the post production is so harsh. It makes it less real from far in my opinion, which is a shame with all that detail.

Thanks for your words, guys! Really happy you like the work.

Well, we made an illustration with some artistic values, not just "real". I wouldn't say "hard", it is a medium contrast image, not too aggressive and that fits well with the theme we wanted to represent, remember that it is a robot with a 2d cartoon face hehe

Maybe you prefer the neutral images to see well all the work in modeling-texturing-shading. For the illustration we prefer some freedom to create the world around the robot

Thanks!

hi,
thats a funny cool work with a superb details, congrats!
and imo many movies uses that kind of post pro, so I don't think the post pro is a shame thing (ps: I don't know why I really hate the "shame" words). the only thing I don't like is the fog, seems too flat or doesn't have a depth.
is there an animation version? :D
