[Max] Feature Requests / alpha material for compositing

I would love for a composite material in Corona which I can apply to a model and it is not rendered in the beauty pass but only as alpha black or white without casting any shadows or affect anything in the scene in any way. Because there's often cases where I need to render a scene i multiple layers and need to cut certain elements out. If I could just place a plane where I want in the scene and everything behind that plane is rendered black in alpha it would open for so much control with alpha.

I think it would be a great feature to show how much rendertime each image you store in the VFB. For me I like to use the VFB as a place to compare images when I try to optimize a scene, and that kind of information would be more useful than the clock time it finished render.

I know this isn't a renderer feature, but since the Corona team has made so much other great add-ons to the render this is something I do not know how to do and I would really wish for.
Lets say you have 50 materials and want to add a Corona Color correction between the bitmap and diffuse slot and all the materials should have the same settings for the color correct. It would have been so nice if I were able to link the settings on each of the map so that if you make a change you don't have to update 50 maps. Or if you have 3 corona bitmaps, being able to link tiling or whatever so that the material process would be more automatic. I don't have a good suggestion how it would work, but it would have been nice.

I've experienced this for a long time. i do not know if it is a bug in 3ds Max or a bug with corona. But if you have two monitors and move the interactive rendering to a secondary monitor, all the 3ds Max top menus, such as File dropdown, Edit dropdown etc gets offset. So essentially I cannot see the File or edit dropdown list they get offset out of the screen. The only way to get it back is to minimize 3ds max and back up again. It does not happen instalnly but If I keep going back and forth to the progressive rendering window and it is running, then at a certain point I cannot access these menus anymore.

When adding a Corona Color correction to a HDRI background the background gets completely broken in the viewport, but it works perfectly before adding the color correction. Is this something that's possible to fix or is this a 3DS Max internal bug?

Hi, I would love it if Corona Renderer had a material that ONLY affects alpha. Meaning it isn't being rendered in beauty pass, not affecting GI, reflection or anything, only alpha! I do a lot of pictures, where I need to separate the render into layers, front middle and back or extract any part of the picture in general. But with a Alpha only material you can do so much great stuff with the alpha channel.

Hardware / 3970x experiences. Heat, speed, ram etc..?

I'm considering to build a new computer with 3970x. I had 1.gen threadripper 1950x which caused so many problems that I sold it and went back to Intel. But, it seems AMD has sorted most of those quirks with gen.3 (singe core speed, ram support, overheat, etc..). So I would love hear from some of the people here that has bought 3970x or 3960x and how it performs and if you had any problems setting it up.

1. If anyone has installed 128gb of ram (8x 16gb sticks or more) how does it work, has it been easy to install? I wan't even able to install 128gb of ram in 1950x. It's nearly impossible to find any info on this on the web, its all over the place. I would love to be able to just buy a regular low profile ram kit like 3200mhs Hyper Fury X. But even the Asus motherboard Ram vendor list is scarse when it comes to 128gb.

2. Heat. AMD recommend Watercooling. Though my experience with AIO watercooling has been tragic. I owned a Enermax 360 with the 1950x and it was horribly noisy and got overheated with longer rendertimes. Noctua worked better. So without custom loop, is fan ok? Any experiences here?

ANy other experiences, was it worth the upgrade etc.. I'd love to hear :)

I have a request/question, though I do not know if it is possible or limitations to 3ds Max. 
I have noticed that the Corona Color Selector is significantly slower than the original 3ds Max color selector. It almost seems like it requires a ton of computer power even to slide a color bar because it is so slow. Is it possible to improve the responsiveness?

Hi, is there a way to change which directions mappings are linked to a model when using triplanar mapping?.
I'm mapping beams of wood in different directions if a rotate a model the UVW's follows the model, which is as you would expect. But lets say I want have that same direction for another mesh but without rotating the model, how can I achieve this?
I have tried changing the pivot, rotating the normals of a model, but nothing seem to affect the triplanar after it is mapped - the only way I can rotate the mapping is to rotate the model itself. 

Any help appreciated!

[Max] I need help! / Disable motionblur on selected objects

I'm trying to disable motion blur on selected objects which have changing topology over a certain timeframe so that you don't suddenlt see the motion blur appear. Is this possible or can Corona only turn motion blur on/off for the entire scene?

I wish Corona lights had a Projection/map slot the same way Standard lights has. For certain things you need projection lights and using Corona light material on a face doesn't work very well for this. This feature is also very useful if you want to map such things as a texturemap for a HDRI light texture onto the light to get softer edges or a certain look to the light (like grids, studio bounce light etc). I used this a lot when I was using Redshift to add shallow warm reflective lights etc same way you'd do in a studio light setup.

I have this video I'm trying to make where I have this golden blocks where I want to project videos on the walls. I have searched and searched on the corona forums to see if there is a way. The only way I could find suggested by Ondra is to have a light material with high directionalality. But this doesn't work, the source image becomes very blurry even at directionality of 1. Has anyone got a solution to this or is this a limitation in Corona renderer??? Using regular Max lights corona doesn't do anything when I add a texture in the projection map slot either.

Any help appreciated!

I don't know if this is because I have a 4K screen, but the curves editor in Corona 5 is very buggy, and it was not like this before. If I try to drag the right and left point far on the curveeditor they suddenly disappear or end up outside the editing field and its impossible to tweak it. It happens all the time and becomes very frustrating.

I had this problem since I started using Corona and thought I mention it. But if Corona Interactive is running and you overwrite/update a texture used in the scene, Max will crash. I have tried to make an habbit of stopping corona interactive whenever I work on the textures but sometime I forget. It would be great if Corona would rather stop rendering than crash, at least.

This is a tiny request, but it has annoyed me quite a few times so I thought I could ask for it.
When you type in a Hex number and click "ok" it doesn't change the color to that which you have changed, you have to click enter before you close it. But unless you click cancel, I think every change you have made in the colorpicker should be applied, the same way it does in Photoshop. I so often just click ok and end up not getting the change because of photoshop musclememory :)
