[C4D] Daily Builds / NO MATERIAL PREVIEW AVAILABLE
« on: 2023-05-05, 08:55:56 »
I am sure someone already raised this issue in the past, but here it is once small.

When I use a Chaos Material, I sometimes make small adjustments to it and wish to save it for future use so that I do not have to always make the same changes. However, for some reason I cannot see the material preview as it appears black in my browser. I attached an image that shows this.

Is there a fix for this?

Thank you.

Ian

Nikolay did an outstanding job on my mac. He had it fixed in 2 min. Also, I saw that Chaos browser had an update that addressed the issue mentioned in this trail.

Great job Chaos! Now looking forward to getting the GOBO feature built within the lights system :)!

Good morning. I just did that. Thank you!

In Addition to my last mail, I found the issue which your tech team brought up the last time, mentioning the that binary file was missing from within the setup file.

Please see attached. I am not sure if this issue is for Windows too, but Mac is def. an issue for every single Chosmos Browser update.

Hi Chaos Team,

Once again I am coming back with the same issue. Every time I try to upgrade to the latest Chaos Cosmos browser, the browser crashes. This has been a persistent issue for me for a very long time. The only way to fix this issue is via setting up a number of steps via "terminal". I could never do it myself as it involves very technical steps. This issue has even been solved when one of your tech teams logged into my Mac remotely.

If it helps you, the last time I was informed by one of your tech team members who fixed my mac remotely mentioned that a file was missing from within the browser's setup file and this had to be added manually to my mac through terminal.

I will wait until tomorrow to get one of your team members to log into my mac once again.

Regards,

P.S. Uninstalling and resinstalling of the entire Chosmos Excho system DOES NOT FIX THE ISSUE.

Hi Tom,

Well, since the features are available, I did try all the settings. Sometimes things break, but we don't mind, we fix it! :). Everything works perfectly now and I was able to finalise the render as attached!

Many thanks once again!

Hi,

That was not the issue. Actually, the issue for this error was under the "Development and Experimental Stuff" of the "Primary Solver. The issue arose when I selected "Path Tracing as a solver instated of "According to GI mode". The issue is now solved.

Thank you!

[C4D] Daily Builds / Corona - Light Artefact Issues
« on: 2023-04-06, 11:07:11 »
Hi everyone,

Been doing a test render using this scene and it seems that I am getting these wired light patches/artefacts on all my renders! Is anyone else experiencing this or know why this is happening? They only show on the final render using CORONA VFB window and not within C4D render window!

Thank you
Ian

[C4D] Daily Builds / Re: Corona Render Test M1 and M1 Max
« on: 2023-04-02, 08:59:38 »
Short message regarding slow speeds on the New M-Macs.

I think that many people are forgetting that Corona Renderer is a CPU-based renderer not a GPU renderer. It's all about the machine's CPU performance and the number of cores. I am still using the Mac Pro Desktop 2013 (trashcan). It has 12 cores CPU and I honestly do not see the benefit of buying a new M1 or even M2 if Corona renderer is my end-game.

My wife uses a fully spect M1 MacBook Pro, 16". I did a hands-on test using everyday workflows and I am extremely glad I did not buy the M1. It has exactly the same speed as my trashcan, if not slower due to its 10 cores CPU vs my 12 Cores CPU. As mentioned earlier this is purely a CPU test.

On the other hand, if you are rendering in Redshift or even Arnold, my trashcan is dead in the water. I could not believe the speed in which the M1, 16" mac performs the same scene, literally 3-4 times faster! This is a massive improvement. Having said that, I am going to wait it out to see what Apple has in mind with the 3nm chips expected in Oct.

Hope this helps!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

Hi Tom,

Here is one last example where I had to create 3 COLORIZER as the material contains three different patterns, in three different colours! I thought this would be a great example to illustrate my earlier point. Do note that in the LAYER NODE, you stack the colonisers on top of each other and you MULTIPLY each one. Additionally, the Base Colour goes on top of each one!

Hi Tom,

This is why we come on these fantastic forums, to learn from one another. I myself discovered that Arnold's Colour Shuffle Node equivalent is C4D's native COLORIZER node. This was a complete accident. I hardly use C4D's native tools as I was very much focused on Arnold's tools. Arnold is very slow if you are using a CPU instated of a GPU to render scenes. The immediate response of the IPR is just not fast enough, especially as you are editing material and speed is everything.

I discovered that Corona does a much faster job on the IPR and is very fast in comparison. Anyways, wishing everyone a fantastic week ahead.

Dear Tom,

Thank you for sending me your solution however, it did get a little crowded with all the nodes. I tried a much simple solution using the CINEMA 4D COLORIZER node and this worked. Sometimes you need to use 2 or 3 colourizer nodes depending on the RGB colour map provided. If you got a green and a red that present two different colours/patterns, then you need two colourizer nodes, one that shows green and the other red. I've provided two samples. One contains the full RGB puzzle matte and the second only provides the green and the red. The point here is that COLORIZER is the solution to this problem!

See the screenshot for the workflow. If anyone else ever experiences this, do note that it took 3 days to work out and I am happy to be sharing the solution.

Warm regards,
Ian

Hi Bean,

I completely get the amazing tool of randomising colours using the HUE node, hoever this is not what is required. We don't want to randomise, we need to be able to select exactly the colour required, which is this case the closest solution is that of the previous post done by your colleagues. Appreciate the feedback though!
