Not quite, as it is a separate plugin which also received updates. I am not sure how the installation was done on your side though.

Just search in Add or Remove programs (installed apps on windows 11) for 3ds Max Scene Security tools.
If it appears, you have them, if it doesn't, you don't.

Has anyone experienced Ctrl+Z or Undo in general consistenly crashing their scenes?  I'm in Max 2024 and Corona 11 - pretty sure it's a Max issue though.

But I'll start a new scene and everything works fine for a while.  Then (randomly) Ctrl+Z will crash Max, and from this point, any instance of Ctrl+Z in that scene results in a crash.  The rest of the scene works fine but once I've had that initial crash - Ctrl+Z becomes a no go zone.  It's driving me insane.

This seems to be the known behavior of the malware found in the scene.
Press H and check if there are any objects (they are usually empty) with strange names (the ones I am aware of were Chinese).
If you found any, deleting them will not work - you will need you download and install [urlhttps://apps.autodesk.com/3DSMAX/en/Detail/Index?id=7342616782204846316&appLang=en&os=Win64]Scene Security tools[/url], then reopen the scene.
It will automatically detect the malware and delete it. Afterwards, you can locate and delete the objects with strange names.

Hi,

This is expected and that is how randomization algorithm works, there is not much you can do about it.

But you can do a simple trick - for the base color slot of all the vehicles, plug an extra CoronaMultiMap with, say, 3-4 different colors, randomized by instance. This way, even if the same model appears twice in a place, there is a much higher chance that the other instance will have a different color, thus making the randomization seem more random.

Probably a use case will be to change the UVW Xform/tiling for many decals with one modifier? This can be done by instancing the decals (knowing/planning before), or wiring parameters, which is indeed cumbersome.

I think UVW Xform modifier support for decals is a good idea.

It would be nice to have a simple notation added that could be used to increment the offset for each subsequent row, so like in this example you would have just have something like 0.14* 1 1
instead of 0.14 1 1| 0.28 1 1| 0.42 1 1| .....


Is that something that can be added? I can put in a feature request in a forum post if needed.

I believe it is simpler to do the math and input/type the values only, than to type the math operations in the input field. And what if the offset is not constantly incremented over the rows?
The input of "a b c | a b c " is not ideal, but it works in a straightforward way.

Hi,

Please find the attached scene.
It is absolutely possible to do this with Corona Tile map but you need to math a bit and type patterns to get it. I have done it for you for these specific tiles.

Corona 11.1 Max 2024.2.1 (Max 2023.2.2) -  it still doesn't work. The displacement map is not randomized.  I checked the instance mode - it doesn't work.

Can you make sure that the instances which have the material applied have different names - objects names are used for randomization, if they have the same name, the will have the same ID.

If they have different names and the randomization is properly set up, but still no randomization appears, please attach a simple scene and we will have a look.

Theoretically yes.  Practically/Optimally no.  Especially when Vray Clipper is a simple checkbox to achieve the exact same thing.

Shouldn't it be possible to incorporate this option into the slicer material?  Inside/Outside checkbox?  Do you need me to make an official feature request?

I get it, but shouldn't it be possible to move the "thickness" plane from shell very far, at least as far to make it unnoticeable?

Don't get me wrong - I am not justifying the limitation, but what you want to do should very much be possible I think.

I am not sure what you are up to, but it is worth noting that CoronaSlicer works during render time, so there is no "improvement" from it for the simulation. There should be in-flow/out-flow type volumes in Phoenix (or freeze ) for simulation, if you are up to it.

If you want only a part of a big mesh to be rendered, this is absolutely possible even with slicer - just shell the initial slicer, and then you can modify it the way you want, just make sure that camera is not in the slicer volume.
