[Max] General Discussion / Re: Price Increase
« on: 2024-01-19, 10:06:30 »
The render engines are more expensive now than the software package they're plugged into.

To all the freelancers out there:
3DStudio Max indie licence 1 person: 350€

Corona renderer for 1 person:
Corona Solo Annual: €322.80 (paid per year)
Corona Solo Monthly: 48.90€ (€586.80 paid per year)

Corona Premium Annual: Not even getting into this. Whatever this ransacking scheme is, half of these items listed "extra" should already be included in the the standard licence. This is beyond thievery.

Currently switching to UE5+ and starting to do the rendering there. Materials & Lighting are easily replaced with what that engine is offering, with free libraries and growing.

They need to stop this bullshit. Paying for a freaking node on a computer we already invested into and increasing the price non stop.

Just make the switch already because they won't budge on their prices, obviously.

Did someone run some tests to see how well the Corona Physical Mtl holds up when exported to UE5+ ?

Reinstalled the whole thing top to bottom (corona and chaos licence server) - Works now -_-

here you go, not sure this says anything more

where and how

Hi, Im having issues with getting my rendernode working through backburner, and i'm hoping it's an easy fix:

The backburner manager is on my workstation and is giving me errors when the node starts picking up a job:

see attached "manager"

They're both (workstation + rendernode) connected to backburner, no issues to "connect":
see attached "submitting"

However, the node's server is reporting the following when trying to boot the render process:
A bunch of missing dll's from corona followed with a could not read/write to type message...
see attached "node-server"

Both the workstation and rendernode are connected to a NAS through a router which I assume assigns and handles the IP. This is a pretty straightforward process in the past and has always worked, it sets itself up automaticaly. I'm also assuming it's set up correctly because they're actualy connected and I can see them both in the backburner monitor, so I have no reason to think it's IP or v4 / v6 related...

I installed the corona render-NODE version and did the chaos licencing application, seems to work fine I reckon.

Any input appreciated.

Btw when using the workstation as a backburner server with the "normal" corona licence, it renders fine as a "node".

Yeah I assumed the same. The pre-animated 4D people where supposed to be better though.. But nyeh.. Just wanted to check if these textures on the animated models are simply "off" as in bad, of if there was a wrong normal map or something else going on perhaps.

9

How about the anima 4D animated people? Im using the same subscription for making an animation and I was just thinking they look really bad up close, the textures look "off"

when u make a render, do you notice the unloading proces is extremely slower as well? Checking for Forest Pack, trying to see if this is (again) related.

[Max] General Discussion / IR not working
« on: 2023-08-31, 11:06:44 »
I have a project that will occasionaly hang and has to be task-manager-terminated /// With work lost as a result

There's no other way around it, it'll just hang when I want to boot the IR.

Any similar experiences?

can someone comfirm that creating proxies on a network NAS is also showing slowdown?

I have the point cloud generating instantly, but the actual loading of it takes a while? Feels like a "freeze" or "hang" ... Also taking longer compared to before, related?

13
ye doesn't need to be 2024 either, working in 2023 here, on a NAS server (HDD) for all the scene files and local for plugin files (Forest Pack Pro, etc..)

I think this has more to do with network related loading, although: Were there even any changes on that between v9 & v10?...

Hi Maru,

we are not aware of any similar reports

we had some similar reports in the past which were related to iToo

:)

Correction: I am not aware of any similar reports regarding Corona 9 vs Corona 10. We did have some reports of slow loading and they were related to iToo, but it was long ago and it was fixed by better Corona<>iToo compatibility.

Hi Maru,

Thank you for your reply.

To your notes:
1/ This slowdown is happening with every scene previously saved and rendered with Corona 9 engine.
2/ iTools plugin: No
3/ Scenes and assets loading: Local SSD drive
4/ Textures: less than 100 textures, below 4K resolution
5/ Lowering texture resolution did not help.

Thanks for all the details. Could you please send us a support ticket at https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new and attach a scene if possible?

Will you let us know in this thread when a fix is available in a hotfix version or something?... That way i'll bookmark this page - seems like a priority ..

Can we revert a scene back to corona 9 from 10 for the time being? I'm getting extreme waiting times for opening files.
