Any ideas when Porting Material and Render Dialog UIs to Qt could be implemented?
It's the most popular request in Corona Ideas Portal with almost twice as much votes comparing to Toon shading.

Recently, I worked on a project in V-Ray after many years of working with Corona.
The difference in the material editor response is significant, and consequently, the workflow and productivity is improved.
I don't want to diminish the value of toon shading, I know that some users have been wanting this feature for years
but improving material editor response could be great improvment in everyday work for all users.

I have tested this on two 64-core workstations and one 24-core workstation, and the issue is only occurring on the 64-core workstations.
I have this issue on 24-core Xeons and 32-core Threadrippers.

P.S.
Sorry to bother you Tom, still no updates on the roadmap.
I'm really interested to see where Corona develepoment is heading for version 13.

Most likely things will stay quiet until the next version of Corona is out

Sorry to hear that Tom. I don't mean to downplay or dismiss other feature requests and updates, but in my opinion, having a smoother experience with the material editor and the ability to smoothly tweak materials while IR is active would be a significant improvement for everyday workflow and would enhance productivity for all Corona users.

Speaking of the new release, could we get a sneak peek of what's planned? There haven't been any updates on the Trello roadmap.
Thank you!

Working in the material editor, whether in compact or slate mode, has been painfully slow for years, especially when IR is running. If this issue is related to Corona and not 3ds Max itself, it should be a top priority to fix.

I'm experiencing the same thing, especially on exterior scenes.
For the same amount of passes and noise level render times are quite different.
IR also seems slower in Corona 12.

Corona 11: 09:16 min
Corona 12: 13:56 min

AMD 7970x, Max 2024.2.3, Windows 11
I have reported this with one scene included (Id #268872).

I decided to go with U14.
I just hope it shows it is still goldilocks for new Threadrippers :)

Considering buying 7970x too and wanted to ask whether U14 is performing well at keeping CPU temperature low?

So far I had no problems with the pc at all.
It works non stop as main workstation and for rendering over nights and during weekends.
I just did an animation that was rendering for days without any issues.

That said I do get temperatures around 90c on full load at 4.6 Ghz and 350W power consumption.
Idle temperatures are around 45 c.

It would be nice to have some results with liquid coolers for comparison.
If you end up buying one please let me know the temperatures.

Thanks for reply Nejc.
I also have one 3970x with U14s in the office, it works great for a few years now.
I had some bad experiences with AIO liquid cooling in some previous configurations I built so I'm really hesistant to go down that road again :).
Having stable and reliable workstation that I can safely leave to render overnight is more important to me than squezzing a few mhz more.

Hi, can you please suggest cooling solutions for Threadripper 7970x.
I was thinking to go with Noctua NH-U14S TR5-SP6 but not sure if some AIO liquid solution is better.

Thanks for help!

General CG Discussion / Re: Vantage and Corona
« on: 2024-01-29, 15:13:00 »
For Marijan, Vantage reads vrscene, so we need to export to vrscene, correct. This would not be something that could happen fast enough to work with IR unfortunately. Just the way Vantage is set up to work, that it only takes in vrscene format, and coming from Corona will need conversion which takes time.

Makes sense, thanks for the answer Tom.

While a way to render with Vantage is planned for Corona 12, this is not planned to work in a way that would allow it to be an IR replacement, sorry.

Hi Tom, can you please share some more information on this?
From what you are saying Vantage support will be some kind of scene exporter rather than having live link like in vray.

[Max] Feature Requests / Re: The most wanted feature?

chiming in for +1 to Vantage

And "willing to pay the extra $600 a year on top of the Corona subscription?" - that's an important point to let us know when chiming in for Vantage :) Thanks!

If we want to use Vantage now its paying extra $600 for it plus paying for Vray plus all the hassle with scene converting.
So having to spend "only" 600$ seems not so bad :)

Hi, I saw that there are plans for Corona 10 hotfix. Is there a chance this issue will also be fixed?

Hi, are there any plans to fix this for V11 maybe. Thanks.
