It looks like animation of maps/bitmaps is not taken into account for motion blur. I can imagine situations where this could be useful.

I can't select the material of that rendered crazy geometry, because it does not appear in my file ( model). It only appears after rendering.
If it has a material indeed, you should be able to go into material editor, click get material, scene materials, and look for it (greenish thing).
Have you tried deleting objects one-by-one and seeing when/if it disappears?
Have you tried merging this scene into a new one?

Just checked on 2014 - same here, fucked up normals. It is even visible in viewport. Adding cap holes modifier before shell fixes it. So I guess it might have something to do with teapot having both solid (capped) and non-solid parts, intersecting each other, etc. But I guess it is not Corona related. It happens in scanline too.

Can't access max15/16 now, would be cool if someone could check it.

-in any scene, select any Laubwerk plant object > hit render
-in the same scene, deselect all, or select any object OTHER THAN Laubwerk > hit render

IMHO this should be even higher priority than material glossy darkening on edges.
Having to use trick for regular refractive glass on architectural elements is quite debilitating given this is like the absolute basic of architectural scene.
I created a thread about it with similar comment long time ago and there was virtually no response. :)

My guesses would be:
-damaged file
-bug
-displacement as Romullus suggested (though not likely - your displacement settings are high and this is low-poly)

One idea:
That strange geometry. It has a material. To what objects is this material assigned? Could you select these object/s by material and isolate them?

You don't need to use thin glass. You can use rayswitch material. In this message there is an example how to do it (.max file):

I like all of your pictures. Maybe they are not perfectly photoreal, but they have some artistic quality in light and materials, like classic still life paintings.

It looks like it could be used to simulate nice velvet things. Not sure if it looks correct though. :)
